Sinners Anonymous: A Forbidden Love Dark Mafia Romance

by Somme Sketcher (Author)
4.2

My fiancé’s nephew knows every sin I’ve ever committed. He’s about to become the deepest and darkest of them all. My name is Rory Carter and I do bad things. There’s a charred soul under this angelic exterior and sometimes, I wonder if my weekly confessions to the Sinners Anonymous hotline will be enough to heal it. Marrying the seventy-something head of the Cosa Nostra to save my father is the only good deed I’ve ever done. I’m burning and bitter under the fake smile and tight dresses, but I was keeping it together. Was. Until my fiancé’s nephew turns up to dinner uninvited. Angelo ‘Vicious' Visconti. A beautiful monster with cheekbones as sharp as his tongue. They say I shouldn’t be scared of him, because nine years ago, he went straight. He’s barely a Made Man anymore. But I say, he’s the most dangerous Visconti of all. It’s not just because his cold sneer makes my pulse flutter. Or the way his syrupy drawl trickles down my spine. No. He holds all of my sins in his big, rough hands. And the only sins darker than mine are his own. DARK MAFIA ROMANCE - FORBIDDEN LOVE - AGE GAP - ENEMIES TO LOVERS *** SOMME’S NOTES: Sinners Anonymous is a deliciously dark, enemies to lovers mafia romance. It can be read as a standalone but believe me, you'll want to devour it with the rest of the trilogy! You should know that I write dark romance, and my stories—including this one— aren’t for the faint of heart. They contain several triggers and are somewhat disturbing, so aren't suitable for everyone. You won’t find Prince Charming or a damsel in distress within these pages, so if that’s what floats your boat, I kindly encourage you to move along!

This was an interesting dark romance that had a surprisingly sweet ending! It’s part of a connected series about three brothers in a mafia family, but each book follows a different brother and his love story, starting with the oldest. That said, it’s a dark romance and has a warning from the author at the beginning of the book that I highly recommend is taken seriously for those that need it! Twenty-one year old Aurora is desperate to save the nature preserve she grew up on and is willing to do anything to save it, including agreeing to marry the Don of Devil’s Cove— the very man responsible for the plan to bulldoze her home and displace her sick father. Out of options, she agrees to become his fiancée; forced to follow his instructions while living in his house, and trying her best to ignore the comments from his adult children who see her as nothing more than another gold-digger in a long line of women after their father’s wealth. Rory lothes acting as a dutiful wife-to-be and uses petty revenge as an outlet for her frustration, then calls her favourite anonymous phone line, Sinners Anonymous, to purge her sins and rid herself of her guilt. When her fiancé’s nephew— brutal CEO and infamous hothead, Angelo— returns to town after almost a decade away, he brings a sense of unease to the entire family. After Rory discovers he owns Sinners Anonymous, the anonymous call line she depends on, she knows this handsome, cunning man is even more dangerous than she thought, especially when she seems as drawn to him as he is to her. Though they keep some boundaries between them, Rory and Angelo both know they’re risking everything in their stolen moments, but unless those moments mean the safety of her father and the preserve where he lives, Rory knows her only real option is to stick to the deal she made to marry Angelo’s horrible uncle. With discoveries being made and betrayals coming to light, Rory and Angelo have a decision to make: do they further explore their connection even if it leads to a war in their small town, or do they turn away from each other, forcing Rory to marry a man who they both know will never keep his word? The story was very intricate with all the scheming and suspense going on! It revealed just enough to keep things interesting without unloading everything all at once. It set up the individual characters, their families, and their businesses very nicely to give readers a broad view of the workings of the world this book takes place in. Every character felt rich with backstory even if they only had a small moment or two on the page, which is hard to do! Since it’s a standalone in a series of standalones, this book wrapped up the story of Rory and Angelo well yet left some things open-ended for the next book in the series. Rory and Angelo’s romance was spicy and full of tension, and sweet and soft at the same time. Because of the dual POVs, it was super fun to read and wait for the moment for them to finally accept their feelings, and when they did, it was satisfying to read. All in all, I enjoyed it and it was a good introduction to the world this series of standalones will take place in.

Ich habe dieses Buch in einem Tag gelesen und werde gleich mit dem nächsten beginnen. Es war toll die Sinneswandlung von Angelo zu beobachten.
